New High-Tech Timepiece Operates ADT Home Security Systems,
Controls Home Functions.
BOCA RATON, Fla., Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ --
ADT Security Services, Inc., a unit of Tyco International Ltd.
(NYSE: TYC; LSE: TYI; BSX: TYC), today introduced the ADT Powerwatch(TM)
remote control for ADT home security systems. The ADT Powerwatch,
designed and manufactured by Timex Corporation, is a futuristic,
high-tech wristwatch from which users can remotely arm and disarm their
security system, turn on lights inside their home and open their garage
door -- all with the touch of single button on the watch.
The ADT Powerwatch combines the rugged functionality of Timex(R)
watches with the convenience of an ADT Quick Key(TM) keyfob.
"This device offers the ultimate in simplicity and convenience
to our customers," said President of ADT Security Services, Inc.
Mike Snyder. "There's no hurrying through the door to get to
your keypad and no multiple remotes on your key ring. Your watch now
allows instant access into the safety of your ADT protected home."
The ADT Powerwatch is water resistant up to 10 meters and features
an Indiglo(R) night-light for easy night viewing and operation, displays
the time, day of the week, month and date in a 12 (AM/PM) or 24-hour
format and has an hourly chime, alarm and stop watch. Its key security
features offer the ability to arm the system in the "Away" and
"Stay" modes, disarm the system, open and close the garage
door and turn lights on and off from up to 100-feet away.
The ADT Powerwatch is perfect for those who come home after dark or
for families with children who may arrive home from school alone. The
wristwatch is less likely to be lost than a set of keys and a child can
use it to turn on the lights before entering the home. Once safely
inside, a child can arm the system in the "Stay" mode with the
simple touch of a button, without ever having to memorize a security
code. This feature can help minimize false alarms and encourage use of
the security system.
The ADT Powerwatch features an encrypted receiver and is available
with current model ADT Safewatch(R) 2000s installed after August 1,
2000. It has a built-in EE Prom that stores the memory so the watch
does not require reprogramming when the battery is replaced.
ADT(R), ADT Powerwatch(TM), ADT Quick Key(TM) and maple watch ADT Safewatch(R)
2000 are proprietary marks of ADT Security Services AG. All rights
